Dear My Period is 5 Days Late, but I Still Get Cramps. Why?,

TeenHealth FX knows how scary a missed period can be. There are many reasons a missed period can happen, such as:

  • pregnancy,
  • high levels of stress,
  • you are still young and sometimes periods are not as consistent during the puberty stages of life,
  • a medication can be affecting your period,
  • lifestyle changes (exercising more or a change in diet can delay a period),
  • and more!

Unfortunately, due to lack of information and TeenHealth FX not being able to diagnose over the internet, we are not sure exactly what is the cause of your period delay.

We strongly encourage you to reach out to a doctor and they can investigate your situation in more detail. We do advise you to go sooner than later! If you still have concerns and need help finding a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist.
