Pain In Back of Leg
Bicep femoris muscle pain can occur for several reasons. One of the most common causes is improper weight lifting and/or too strenuous of exercise.
You did not indicate whether or not you participate in sports/physical activity. If so, TeenHealthFX suggests taking it easy and allowing your muscles time to rest, in order to lessen the likelihood of tearing a muscle or ligament.
TeenHealthFX recommends the following:
- Inform your parents, coach or any trusted adult of this pain, so they can ensure your safety.
- If you engage in weight training, be sure to take routine days off.
- If you experience this muscle pain during an activity, it is best to stop that activity.
- Ice the sore area using indirect ice. (Ex: You can wrap an ice pack in a paper towel)

If you find that the pain you are experiencing does not go away, TeenHealthFX recommends scheduling an appointment with your doctor. If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-6475 for an appointment or contact your local teen health center.
